HOW TO WRITE A REPORT

Report writing is one of the most important skills. If you are a student, knowing how to write a report can help you to score high in your English exams. As a civil servant, you can be asked to write a report as part of your duties in your office. If you’re a manager in a company, you could be required to write reports from time to time. As a journalist working in a media house, you are expected to write reports as part of your job. As an engineer, as a politician, as a member or chairperson of a committee, as a teacher or lecturer, as a marketer, as a banker, and in whatever field of life you’re pursuing a career, you can always be required to write a report.

Writing a report has to do with giving an account of .an incident or a problem. In a report, thee writer presents the facts about a an incident, a situation, or a problem.

A report can be for either or informal, depending on it’s purpose. If you are asked to write a report submit a report as an official statement, then it is a form al report. In the case of an informal report, you simply give the information to people people with whom you share a personal relationship, such as your relations and close friends.

A report begins with a title or heading. This is followed by the introduction (paragraph 1), the body of the report (paragraphs 2, 3, 4…), and then the conclusion (the last paragraph).
